Nationally Ranked: Cass Tech Cracks Top 25 Ahead of Fordson Playoff Showdown

DETROIT, MI — The Detroit Cass Tech Technicians are gaining national attention at the perfect time.

With the Michigan high school football playoffs underway, Cass Tech has earned a spot at No. 25 in the High School On SI national Power 25 rankings, adding another milestone to an undefeated season.

The Technicians improved to 10-0 following a 55-13 victory over Plymouth in the opening round of the Division 1 playoffs.

But the road to a state championship is about to become more challenging.

A dangerous opponent awaits

Cass Tech's next opponent is Dearborn Fordson, which is coming off a statement victory of its own.

The Tractors defeated Belleville 28-14, eliminating a program that has been one of Michigan's most recognizable football powers in recent seasons.

That result immediately changed the outlook of the Division 1 playoff bracket.

Fordson has already demonstrated its ability to knock off a major contender. Now, the Tractors have an opportunity to deliver another upset against an undefeated Cass Tech team receiving national recognition.

More than a national ranking

For Cass Tech, the No. 25 ranking is recognition of the program's success throughout the season. But national attention means little once the next playoff game begins.

The Technicians have the opportunity to continue building their championship résumé, while Fordson enters the matchup with momentum and confidence.

Both programs understand what's at stake: a district championship and another step toward Ford Field.

DVS analysis: Something has to give

Cass Tech has been one of the state's most consistent teams this season, but Fordson may present one of its most significant challenges yet.

The Tractors' victory over Belleville should eliminate any possibility of Cass Tech overlooking its opponent.

For Fordson, the formula is straightforward: build on the momentum of its opening-round upset and find a way to disrupt an undefeated opponent.

For Cass Tech, this is an opportunity to prove that its national ranking reflects a team capable of making a deep championship run.

The matchup: Cass Tech vs. Dearborn Fordson — Friday, November 6, 2026.
