MHSAA Division 2 Regional Playoff Breakdown

Traverse City Central (7–4) vs Portage Central (11–0)

McCamley Field – Portage | November 14, 2025 7:00 PM

After an up-and-down season, Traverse City Central (7-4) is surging again. Head coach Eric Schugars and the Trojans bounced back with a 16–14 win over Muskegon (7-4) to capture their district title. Their resilience will be tested against one of Michigan’s best.

Portage Central (11-0), led by Head Coach Mick Enders, enters this matchup unbeaten and dominant. The Mustangs have allowed opponents to score more than 8 points just once all season while posting over 500 total points offensively. Their balanced attack is led by standouts like:

  • #2 Nolan Bloomquist (2026) – S/WR/RB

  • #4 Camden Noe (2028) – RB/OLB

  • #14 Charlie Jilek (2026) – OLB/TE (Minnesota commit)

This could be Portage Central’s toughest test yet against a battle-tested Traverse City squad.

Midland Dow (10–1) vs Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (8–2)

Midland Community Stadium | November 14, 2025 7:00 PM

Dow (10-1), under Head Coach Matthew Peterson, has been electric offensively this season. After a few defensive struggles early, the Chargers have found balance — and confidence — on both sides of the ball.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (8-2), led by Head Coach Jermaine Gonzales, has momentum after a 35–14 win over Brother Rice (6-5). The Eaglets feature a deep roster of playmakers:

  • #1 Jabin Gonzales (2027) – QB

  • #7 Kareem Pruitt (2026) – CB/WR

  • #8 Chad Willis (2027) – WR/S

  • #14 Camari Patterson (2026) – RB/S (Western Michigan commit)

This one has all the makings of a classic — a high-powered offense vs a disciplined, playoff-tested team.

Dexter (10–1) vs Gibraltar Carlson (11–0)

Marauder Stadium – Carlson High School | November 14, 2025 7:00 PM

The Dexter Dreadnaughts (10-1), led by Head Coach Phil Jacobs, bring an explosive offense that’s scored at least 34 points in every game since Week 4. Key players include:

  • #8 Nathan Gersh (2026) – MLB/RB

  • #12 Holden Niemi (2027) – TE

  • #15 Mateo Kipke (2026) – DE

They’ll face an undefeated Gibraltar Carlson (11-0) team that has been just as dominant. The Marauders’ offense, led by #5 Izaiah Wright (2026) at RB, has lit up scoreboards all season. Expect fireworks in what could be one of the highest-scoring games of the weekend.

Birmingham Groves (8–3) vs St. Clair Shores Lakeview (9–2)

Lakeview High School – St. Clair Shores | November 14, 2025 7:00 PM

Birmingham Groves (8-3), under Head Coach Brendan Flaherty, has battled through a tough schedule with losses only to powerhouse programs. Their playoff performance so far shows a team peaking at the right time.

Lakeview(9-2), led by Head Coach Patrick Threet, hasn’t lost since Week 3. The Huskies are riding high on momentum, and the home crowd should make this one even more electric. Expect a gritty, physical matchup with both teams looking to extend their Cinderella run.
