The Detroit Varsity Sports Media Academy is a hands-on development program for aspiring sports media professionals ages 16 and older.
Academy correspondents receive real-world opportunities to cover Metro Detroit high school athletics, develop professional skills, build their portfolios, and learn how sports stories are produced across multiple media platforms.
Whether you want to write game recaps, capture memorable photos, create highlight videos, conduct interviews, appear on camera, or manage digital content, the DVS Media Academy provides a place to learn, grow, and gain experience.

Sports Journalism
Write game recaps, feature stories, breaking news updates, athlete profiles, and other editorial content for Detroit Varsity Sports.
Videography
Film highlights, interviews, social media videos, recaps, and original sports content.

Photography

Every new member begins their journey as a Rookie Correspondent and has the opportunity to advance through the Academy based on performance, professionalism, experience, and leadership.
