Metro Detroit Top 5 High School Football Rankings (Week 7, 2025)
Here are the rankings for Week 7. We considered team records, strength of wins, how teams handled adversity, and breakout player performances.
Detroit Catholic Central (7–0)
The Shamrocks continue to look untouchable. DCC dominated Toledo St. John’s (OH) 48–7 and remains the most complete, disciplined, and physical team in the state. The defense hasn’t allowed more than 28 points all year — that lone total coming in Week 3 — and their offense has found its groove. This is a state-title-caliber squad firing on all cylinders.
2. Cass Tech (7–0)
Cass Tech hasn’t allowed a single point since Week 4 against Detroit King — and that tells you all you need to know about their defense. The Technicians annihilated East English 67–0 this week, showcasing depth, discipline, and elite conditioning. Donald Tabron II and company are clicking on both sides of the ball, and they’re making a strong case for #1.
3. Harper Woods (7–0)
The Pioneers just made a statewide statement, knocking off previously unbeaten Saline 41–32 in one of Michigan’s biggest games of the week. Harper Woods now has signature wins over both Clarkston and Saline — two powerhouse programs. With dynamic playmakers and a high-octane offense, the Pioneers have officially proven they belong among Michigan’s elite.
4. Belleville (6–1)
After a narrow 28–23 win over Westland John Glenn, the defending champs are back in rhythm. Since that Week 1 loss to Clarkston, Belleville has been methodically regaining its championship form. They’re tough, experienced, and dangerous down the stretch — and with D1-level athletes at key positions, no one wants to face them in October.
5. Detroit Martin Luther King (5–2)
King is climbing again — and making a statement on defense. The Crusaders have now posted three straight shutouts, including a 51–0 rout of Detroit Henry Ford this week. They haven’t allowed a single touchdown since Week 4 against Cass Tech. With their defense red-hot and offense gaining momentum, King looks playoff-ready.
On the Bubble:
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (5–1): Still in contention, but haven’t faced a top-tier opponent since the DCC loss.
Clarkston (6–1): Their only loss came to Harper Woods; they just blasted West Bloomfield 38–10 — a performance that could vault them back into the Top 5 soon.
West Bloomfield (5–2): Back-to-back losses drop them for now, but they remain one of the area’s most talented squads.
Hudsonville (7–0): Still unbeaten, quietly handling business on the west side.
The Final Whistle
Week 7 delivered fireworks across Detroit’s prep football scene. Detroit Catholic Central High School, Cass Technical High School, and Harper Woods High School remain undefeated and have clearly separated themselves as Michigan’s top tier. Belleville High School is regaining its championship form, while Detroit Martin Luther King High School’s defense is playing lights-out. With Clarkston High School and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory School right behind, the stretch run to the playoffs will test who’s truly built for November football in the Motor City.
