Chris Webber’s Best of Michigan Basketball Showcase Returning to Detroit in December
The Best of Michigan Basketball Showcase is returning to Detroit for another two-day event featuring high school basketball from across the state.
According to the MHSAA’s sanctioned-events list, Chris Webber Presents: The Best of Michigan Basketball Event is scheduled for Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12, 2026.
The participating teams, game schedule and exact Detroit venue have not yet been announced.
Presented by Detroit basketball legend and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Chris Webber, the showcase brings prominent boys’ and girls’ programs together while highlighting the talent and culture of Michigan high school basketball.
Detroit Varsity Sports covered last year’s showcase at Calihan Hall, which featured several notable Metro Detroit programs. The boys’ field included Cass Tech, Detroit Country Day, Brother Rice, West Bloomfield, Warren Lincoln, Ferndale, River Rouge, Warren Fitzgerald and Summit Academy.
Detroit Edison, Detroit Renaissance, Detroit Country Day and Wayne Memorial were among the girls’ programs participating in the event.
Beyond the matchups, the 2025 showcase also gave athletes access to educational sessions covering subjects such as name, image and likeness opportunities, health and media training.
With another two-day event officially scheduled, the 2026 showcase is positioned to become one of the early highlights of the upcoming Michigan high school basketball season.
Detroit Varsity Sports plans to return for coverage and will provide updates when the venue, participating teams, game times, ticket information and media details are announced.
