The Tractors avenged their regular-season loss to Belleville with a 28–14 victory in the opening round of the Division 1 playoffs.
Dearborn Fordson delivered the biggest Metro Detroit result of the opening round Friday night.
The Tractors defeated Belleville 28–14 in an MHSAA Division 1 district semifinal, ending the Tigers’ season and earning a district-final matchup with unbeaten Detroit Cass Tech.
It was more than another playoff victory for Fordson. The Tractors avenged a 26–21 regular-season loss to Belleville and proved that the postseason can rewrite a matchup completely.
Fordson Flips the Result
Belleville defeated Fordson by five points during their first meeting on September 11. Seven weeks later, the Tractors reversed the outcome—and doubled the Tigers on the scoreboard.
Fordson also delivered one of the night’s most memorable highlights with a successful hook-and-ladder touchdown. Complete individual statistics and scoring details were not immediately available, but the final result was unmistakable: Fordson controlled the playoff rematch and held Belleville to 14 points.
The victory improved Fordson to 8–2 and preserved its unbeaten record at home.
Belleville, which entered the postseason at 6–3, finishes the year 6–4.
A Major Metro Detroit Playoff Result
Belleville has become one of Michigan’s most recognizable football programs. That reputation makes Fordson’s victory significant—but the Tractors should not be reduced to a team that simply pulled off an upset.
Fordson entered the playoffs with seven victories, the higher playoff-point average and home-field advantage. The Tractors had already defeated West Bloomfield, Northville and several other Division 1 opponents during the regular season.
Friday’s result still qualifies as a major statement because of Belleville’s postseason expectations and recent football success. But Fordson did not stumble into the district final. The Tractors earned their opportunity throughout the season and then completed the job when Belleville arrived in Dearborn.
Cass Tech Is Next
Fordson’s reward is a trip to Detroit for a district-final matchup against Cass Tech.
The Technicians defeated Plymouth 55–13 in their playoff opener and improved to 10–0. Cass Tech has been one of Metro Detroit’s most dominant teams this season and is attempting to return to Ford Field after reaching the Division 1 championship game in 2025.
Fordson will enter as the challenger, but Friday’s victory should eliminate any temptation to dismiss the Tractors.
Holding Belleville to 14 points and winning by two touchdowns gives Fordson legitimate momentum. The next assignment will require an even stronger performance against a Cass Tech team that has overwhelmed most of its opponents.
DVS Analysis
Fordson’s victory changes the conversation surrounding this portion of the Division 1 bracket.
A Belleville–Cass Tech district final would have attracted plenty of attention, but Fordson earned the right to replace that expected matchup. The Tractors demonstrated discipline, resilience and the ability to adjust after losing the regular-season meeting.
Cass Tech remains the favorite entering the district final. The Technicians are undefeated, explosive and experienced in high-pressure postseason games.
However, Fordson has already eliminated one prominent opponent. The Tractors now have an opportunity to turn one major playoff victory into a postseason run that nobody can ignore.
The road gets significantly harder from here—but Fordson has already shown it belongs on it.
