Oxford Makes a Statement With 51–7 Rout of West Bloomfield

OXFORD, Mich. — Oxford is making its presence felt as the Michigan high school football regular season approaches its final stretch.

The Wildcats delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season Friday, October 9, defeating West Bloomfield 51–7 in a lopsided Week 7 matchup.

The victory improved Oxford’s record to 6–1 and provided another indication that the Wildcats are building momentum heading toward the MHSAA playoffs.

Oxford Takes Control

Oxford left little doubt about the outcome, putting up 51 points against a West Bloomfield program that has been a familiar name in Metro Detroit high school football.

The 44-point margin of victory was a statement for a Wildcats team looking to establish itself among the area’s strongest postseason contenders.

Just as impressive was Oxford’s defensive effort. Holding West Bloomfield to seven points complemented the Wildcats’ explosive offensive performance and highlighted a complete team effort.

Wildcats Climb in Super 25 Rankings

Oxford’s performance earned recognition in the latest Detroit Free Press Super 25 rankings, released Sunday, October 11.

The Wildcats moved from No. 17 to No. 14, reflecting their continued progress during the second half of the regular season.

With a 6–1 record, Oxford has positioned itself as a team worth watching as the postseason picture begins to take shape.

Building Momentum Toward the Playoffs

The final weeks of the regular season can be especially important for teams preparing for postseason football.

For Oxford, Friday’s victory was an opportunity to demonstrate its offensive firepower, defensive discipline and ability to take control of a game against a recognizable Oakland County opponent.

The challenge now is carrying that performance into the remaining regular-season schedule.

With the playoffs approaching, Oxford has an opportunity to turn its impressive regular-season results into a deeper postseason run.

Detroit Varsity Sports will continue following Oxford and other Metro Detroit programs as the MHSAA football playoffs approach.
