Metro Detroit Owns Michigan’s Top 10 as Cass Tech, DCC Lead New Super 25
Metro Detroit isn’t simply represented near the top of Michigan high school football.
It’s dominating it.
Following Week 6 of the 2026 season, five Metro Detroit programs sit inside the top seven of the Detroit Free Press Super 25, led by undefeated Cass Tech and Detroit Catholic Central in the top two spots.
The new rankings have:
No. 1 Cass Tech (6–0)
No. 2 Detroit Catholic Central (6–0)
No. 5 Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (5–1)
No. 6 Clarkston (6–0)
No. 7 Detroit King (5–1)
And Metro Detroit’s presence extends much deeper. Brother Rice is No. 14, Harper Woods No. 18, Grosse Pointe South No. 19, Belleville No. 24 and Fordson enters at No. 25.
Cass Tech Holds No. 1
Cass Tech continues to hold the top spot after another dominant performance.
The Technicians defeated Western International 65–0 Friday, improving to 6–0. It comes one week after Cass defeated rival Detroit King 20–7 in one of its biggest tests of the season.
DCC remains directly behind Cass at No. 2 with its own perfect 6–0 record.
Interestingly, there isn’t a consensus No. 1 across Michigan.
The latest Michigan Sports Writers poll entering Week 6 had DCC No. 1 and Cass Tech No. 2 in Division 1, while the new Free Press Super 25 puts Cass ahead of DCC. On3’s newest statewide ranking goes another direction, putting DCC No. 1, Clarkston No. 3 and Cass Tech No. 7.
That makes the debate at the top increasingly interesting as the postseason approaches.
Clarkston Keeps Rolling
Clarkston is another Metro Detroit program making its case.
The Wolves improved to 6–0 with a 64–8 victory over West Bloomfield and remain No. 6 in the Free Press Super 25. On3 has an even higher opinion of the Wolves, ranking Clarkston No. 3 statewide following Week 6.
Detroit King also remains firmly in the statewide picture at No. 7 after responding to its loss against Cass Tech by beating East English Village Prep 42–6.
With Cass Tech, DCC, Clarkston and several other contenders rolling into October, the road to Ford Field could run heavily through Metro Detroit.
