Auburn Hills Avondale Defeats Roseville 71–50, Advances to State Semifinals

Auburn Hills Avondale continued its dominant season Tuesday night, defeating Roseville 71–50 in the MHSAA State Quarterfinal to earn a trip to the State Semifinals at the Breslin Center.

After a strong start and a brief push from Roseville in the second quarter, Avondale regained control and pulled away in the second half to secure the convincing victory.

First Quarter – Avondale Starts Fast

Avondale wasted no time setting the tone, opening the game with a 7–0 run. Their defense was active all over the floor, forcing tough shots and limiting Roseville’s scoring opportunities.

Roseville found some momentum late in the quarter, but Avondale still finished the period with a comfortable lead.

Second Quarter – Roseville Fights Back

Roseville responded with strong defensive pressure in the second quarter, forcing turnovers in the passing lanes and even on inbounds plays.

Those mistakes turned into quick points for Roseville, and with 5:33 remaining in the half, they took a 23–21 lead.

After a timeout, however, Avondale regrouped. The Yellow Jackets closed the half on an 8–2 run, reclaiming momentum and heading into halftime with a four-point lead.

Third Quarter – Avondale Regains Control

Avondale came out of halftime focused and began to control the pace again.

Their offense stayed consistent while their defense limited Roseville’s chances to cut into the lead. Although Avondale began dealing with some foul trouble during the quarter, they still managed to extend their advantage.

Fourth Quarter – Yellow Jackets Pull Away

The final quarter mirrored the third as Avondale maintained control on both ends of the floor.

Their offense continued to find rhythm while the defense prevented Roseville from making a serious comeback, allowing Avondale to pull away and close out the win.

Auburn Hills Avondale’s ability to respond after Roseville briefly took the lead in the second quarter proved to be the turning point. Their balanced offense and defensive pressure helped them take control in the second half and secure a State Semifinal berth.
