Mumford Pulls Away from Southfield A&T, Advances to District Final

Mumford High School secured its spot in the District Final with a strong 76–56 victory over Southfield A&T in the District Semifinals at Southfield A&T High School.

After a competitive first quarter, Mumford gradually took control of the game behind efficient scoring, defensive pressure, and a decisive third-quarter run.

First Quarter - Tight Start

Both teams came out locked in defensively, forcing tough shots and limiting clean looks early.

Mumford began to find rhythm through sharp ball movement, while Southfield A&T stayed within reach by pushing the pace, converting transition opportunities, and earning points at the free-throw line.

Second Quarter - Mumford Creates Separation

Southfield A&T briefly closed the gap by knocking down perimeter shots and entering the bonus.

However, Mumford answered with steady mid-range scoring and increased defensive pressure. After the lead shrank to three points, Mumford forced turnovers by jumping passing lanes and capitalizing on A&T mistakes to regain momentum heading into halftime.
